Mountaineering funs will find it a memorable experience climbing the mountain on their way to the hotel from the town. The town begins or ends from the foot of Zomba mountain. Otherwise tax/cabs or motorbikes are available for an exciting ride up the meandering road to the plateau. The author, with friends, once took up the challenge of climbing the mountain for leisure right from town up to the plateau. It’s a reachable distance on foot and makes a great physical exercise though takes an hour or so.

On the plateau is the inviting Likangala Dam where one can go for relaxation in the beache and engage in photography. It’s good to keep an eye on signposts; and also accompany a local tour guide. Down the plateau is the famous and beautiful botanic garden that keeps some of the rare plant species. It’s worth visiting the garden with your cam ready for some stunning shots!
