MUSIC CROSSROADS MALAWI: NURTURING THE SOUND OF TOMORROW
Music Crossroads Malawi (MCM) is more than just a school—it is a vibrant skills development hub dedicated to nurturing musical talent in all its facets. Since its launch, this institute has become a vital heartbeat for the country’s entertainment industry, offering a creative sanctuary where the youth of Malawi find their voice. Founded by Mathews Ghayiyaye Mfune, the center is tucked away in the lively Area 23 of Lilongwe. It is easily accessible from the Capital’s CBD by car, or for a more authentic local experience, by tricycle or motorbike.
An Immersive Cultural Experience
For the traveler, MCM offers a rare, “behind-the-scenes” look at African music. This isn’t a silent museum; it is a living, breathing social environment where youth of all genders converge to realize their destiny. We invite schools, colleges, and international tour groups to arrange a visit and dive into the soul of our heritage. You won’t just watch; you will participate in:
-
Indigenous & Exotic Instruments: Learn the secrets of traditional drums, or master the piano, guitar, and keyboard.
-
The Movement: Experience the high-energy world of folk dancing… Bum! Bum! Shaking! Shaking! and so much more.
-
The Craft: See how modern entertainment equipment is used to blend ancient rhythms with contemporary beats.
The Legacy of Malawian Music
